Vila Planalto is a central neighborhood in Brasilia, just a few-minutes-walk from the official residence of the President of the Republic. Built in 1957, in the form of a camp, to receive workers during the construction of Brasilia, Vila Planalto was to be dismantled with the inauguration of the new federal capital in 1960. After 60 years, it has consolidated itself as a small city of 7 thousand inhabitants, with excellent quality of life, a thriving commerce and a disputed gastronomic pole. Free from violence, with narrow streets, wooden buildings, the neighborhood still maintains the characteristics and customs of the countryside.
